RESILIENCE

VETERANS COMMUNITY

Project completed in Fall 2020.

This project was part of the 2020 IDEC Student Competition. As a team of 3, we had 3 weeks to design and complete the interior corridor spaces of a veterans community. We were challenged to design the brand and spaces that encourage social interaction in the COVID-era. This veterans community helps veterans get back on their feet after having been gone serving our country. The name Resilience comes from the resilient characteristics of wool fiber. Veterans can go through so much trauma and still come out resilient - hence our name Resilience. My group felt that it was very important to incorporate spaces that allow for veterans at any level to be comfortable living in this space. Because of this, we included a Woodshop and Meditation room within our design, among other things like modular seating in the façade of each resident's room to encourage social interaction that could be physically distanced if needed.
