The Ocean Conservancy Regional Headquarters is located in the A. Glenn Hill Center on NDSU’s main campus. Even though this building is located in the Midwest, it is important that the employees feel like they’re still near the ocean when they’re inside the offices. Through the use of color and textures, the office feels like a modern, underwater experience. Utilizing sustainable materials reflects the mission of the organization and everything they stand behind. It was also crucial to build in a custom, organized trash system that keeps trash separate from recyclables, so less trash pollutes the oceans. Creating a functional, ergonomic environment was necessary for a continual flow throughout the office, as well as designing wide walkways and doorways to abide by ADA standards and account for anthropometric data. The office space is one that they’ll never want to leave to walk out into the frozen tundra of Fargo, North Dakota.
