THE WINSLOW SPA

Project completed in Spring 2021.

The Winslow Spa is located within the historic Ford Building in downtown Fargo, North Dakota. Since the Winslow Spa is also associated with the Winslow Hotel in the same building, their overall aesthetics will remain similar. A modern, biophilic, and industrial approach will be taken to mimic the hotel, however there will be a sense of calm and peace as a client walks into the spa (WELL Mind, 2017, pg. 19). While it will remain welcoming and comfortable, the materials used will be easy on the environment and help contribute to various WELL Standards (Nenadovic, et., 2018). The historic and more industrial areas of the building will keep the original brick and concrete columns. Healing gardens to promote wellness will be dispersed throughout the entirety of the spa as well. Lighting and acoustical control will be very important within the spa (Arikan, 2012). To keep the spa a relaxing environment for all clients, dim lighting and quiet spaces will be incorporated where applicable (Arikan, 2012). Materials and furniture will be chosen that are easily cleanable and can stay sanitary during and after the COVID-19 pandemic (WELL Materials, 2017, pg. 16).
